This week I focused on designing concept sketches for my new
project: The Seven Deadly Sin. I got a feeling that this is going to keep me
occupied for the next couple of weeks and I want to make sure I achieve the
designs in the beginning.
The Seven Deadly Sins have always interest me ever since I
learned about them from the Canterbury Tales in high school. It is in the nature for all
of us as human beings to commit a sin no matter how hard you try to avoid it,
you could be doing it right now without even realizing it. For those who have committed multiple sins, I feel that one sin tends to overpower the
others in each individual. For example, I would consider myself more on the sloth
because I find ways to lose track of time and I mostly find myself still in
bed.
Few weeks ago I took reference photos of my sister, who is a
dancer, in positions I think would best represent a certain sin. I do wish to use the same figure for all
drawings to show it’s the same person but portrays of one sin the most. The pale
figure in will have no emotion expressed on her face because her pose can
express how she’s feeling already. Each sin will be painted on 16X20 canvases,
painted on with oil paints. I’ll go into more detail behind the sins as the
weeks go by.
