7 Deadly Sins Final Sketches

After listening to some thoughtful input from the last group critique (and a Spring Break), I designed what I think is now a much more better concept sketches then the ones from before. This week I created two thumbnail sketches both expressing the 7 Deadly Sins but this time these sketches focuses more on a specific area of a dancing figure’s body. I thought of some phrases that would help make a connection with an area of the body and a sin the best.
Phrases such as:
Pride: It’s all in their Head
Envy: Looking over the Shoulder
Lust: It’s the Heart’s Desire
Greed: Reach for the Gold
Gluttony: The Stomach speaks the Loudest
Sloth: Lack of Movement
Wrath: Stomps Foot in Hatred
The first thumbnail sketch, each section focuses on a sin with a body part with the figure in different positions. These poses I think would help present the sins more as well as make it look complexed yet interesting to look at.

The second thumbnail sketch was based on the dancer only in one pose with the intention of having a few limbs missing but yet connected. The idea in mind was to keep the figure as a whole to show that a sin could influence a single person in multiple ways. With these sketches I also experimented with some color and mark making techniques. The marks I made varies with each sin in which I thought would best correspond with that sin.

Pride: Brushing strings on a wet surface
Envy: Applying darker paint with a paper towel
Lust: Applying paint driblets on a wet surface
Greed: Adding layers then wash over surface once
Gluttony: Applying bubble wrap

Sloth: Applying multiple drops of paint on wet surface
Wrath: Swiping surface with card
